Re:Frame is a Berlin-based moving image platform for East and Southeast Asia and their diasporas, initiated by CiLENS e.V. Building upon four years of curatorial work through Indie Chinese Cinema Week (ICCW), Re:Frame expands toward a broader dialogue across cinema, video art, expanded moving image, sound, performance, and interdisciplinary public programming.
Rooted in Berlin—a city shaped by migration, cultural exchange, and overlapping diasporic histories—Re:Frame approaches moving image not simply as something to watch, but as a space for encounter, inquiry, and exchange.
Through screenings, installations, artist talks, performances, publications, and public programmes, Re:Frame seeks to create meaningful conversations between filmmakers, artists, curators, scholars, institutions, and audiences across East Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe, and their diasporas.
The inaugural edition of Re:Frame will take place in Berlin in Autumn 2026.

The inaugural edition of Re:Frame is titled Nearby and Opaque.
As a film festival dedicated to moving image practices across disciplines, Re:Frame brings together short films, expanded moving images, and forms that challenge conventional boundaries between screen, space, and spectatorship.
Drawing from ideas of proximity, relation, and opacity, the programme explores how moving image can create forms of encounter without collapsing difference.
